In a first, the Jharkhand government has launched air ambulance services in the state from April 28 to boost medical transport facilities.
According to officials, the ambulance will be ready within two hours of booking and will be equipped with emergency equipment and doctors. Chief Minister Hemant Soren will officially launch the air ambulance service from Birsa Munda Airport at 1 pm today.
“This is first of its kind initiative taken by any state in the country. The air ambulance service will be launched by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on April 28,” said Civil Aviation Director (Operations) Captain S P Sinha. “We have selected the firm after a lot of thought. It is one of the pioneers in offering air ambulance service and has a team of specialist doctors, nurses and paramedics in the ambulance. "The choppers are equipped with advanced medical facilities and life support systems,” said Sinha.
The air ambulance services will be available at Ranchi, Deoghar, Dumka, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih and Jamshedpur. The destinations for which these services will be applicable are New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Varanasi, Lucknow and Tirupati.

Service Charges
The service charge ranges from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. For routes other than specified destinations, Rs 1.10 lakh will be charged on an hourly basis. Ranchi to Kolkata will cost Rs 3 lakh while Ranchi to Tirupati or Chennai will cost Rs 8 Lakh. Air ambulance service between Ranchi and Delhi will be provided at only Rs 5 lakh.
